I suppose the subject says it all... I'm glad Pat reminded me of hiding places. I *knew* that I should check for hiding places, but I thought I'd checked all the possible ones. This time I checked a couple *IM*possible ones... I should have guessed that a cat might find a way into an impossible situation. There she was, in the enclosure that surrounds the utility meters, on a bar about an inch wide, trying to stay dry. I'm glad it wasn't raining harder today; if the lower part of the enclosure had flooded, the least that would have happened is a cold, wet kitty, and I'm going to ignore the worst case scenario.

Thank you to everyone who responded; I might respond to each of you, but *damn* I'm emotionally drained right now.

Yes, you can definitely stop being all sniffly ... although I think a few tears of relief were certainly in order, at least on my part.

And, once Skitty got over her anger with me for the leaky roof, and the mis-set thermostat, I was able to give her many hugs, scratches, and a fair amount of tuna, to celebrate her safe return. (I don't think that she actually understands the notion of "outside". I think that she just figures that there is only a small part of the universe that I can be trusted to keep cat-safe. Hence, the rain and cold were definitely my fault ... but she is the forgiving sort. )
