So, I'm driving home to my apartment complex, and I decided that I've kind-of lost my double-take ability after having had such a weird life.

So, I'm driving home, turning into my perfectly-normal apartment complex.

It's a perfectly ordinary Friday evening.

And, as I'm entering the parking lot, I think "Okay, I'd better be careful; there are four children chasing a chicken."

I think I did spend a moment thinking "Right. Chickens aren't related to ducks, it's just we city-folks sometimes think of them as being similar-ish (they're both birds people might eat for dinner, after all). That there's a duck pond is no reason to think a chicken should be running around here." Plus, a little bit of "it's been a while since I've seen a live chicken up close."

But who knows? Maybe in 2-3 days, I'll suddenly do a big jump, and say "There's a CHICKEN running around my apartment complex!"

Someow I am not surprised about the chickens. Around the Bothell area I almost always nearly run into the ducks and chickens that have been breeding wild for some time. It makes the bike ride an interesting obstacle avoidance course. :-)
