Wow...

Okay... wow. I don't even know when the last time I updated my journal was, and I'm not going to look to find out.

I've been keeping myself busy, of course. I spent a lovely weekend with [livejournal.com profile] kightp, and she helped me with apartment hunting. We found a beautiful place, with a one bedroom being about the same price as my two-bedroom here. I finally decided against it, because I'd found another place with rent about $80 a month cheaper, with $150 less in deposits, room about the same size, and, though it's in a cheaper part of Washington, the area doesn't feel dump-ish. The grounds are nice; the apartments aren't as nice, quite, but they're good enough.

I'm still in debt, to some degree, having to pay off Chris's student loan ($4000 to go), and I finally decided I needed financial flexibility more than I needed the slightly better location for an apartment. The good news is, I don't quite feel like I'm settling for something I don't like. I feel as if I'm making a choice to minimize my costs, while maintaining a decent living situation. Plus, I don't need to take mroe than a six month lease.

I'm still writing, of course, and I'm trying to put together blog entries. Eventually, I hope to make this journal just a personal journal, and have my blog be my main outlet for political stuff.

Speaking of which, is there anyone out there with experience in using blogging software - that is, server side software, for publishing a blog on a website - or know of a good, easy way to put a blogger.com blog onto another website? I've finally registered "ForTheDream.com" and [livejournal.com profile] kightp is helping with website design, but this is one thing that seems ridiculously simple, yet might require more brainpower than it should, to get it off the ground.

I can't remember who else has rejected me so far, but I've collected at least one other rejection from a literary agency, and my recent forays into help requests have yielded nothing so far. Right now, I have nothing 'out' (no proposals to agents or publishers or anyone/thing else. I have to change that soon.)

Oh well... I'm thinking of all of you, a lot more often than I'm writing to you. I hope everything's going well.

Just for the heck of it:

*smooch*

And no, I don't think the second-best apartment complex is at all dumpish; it's much, much better than the place you are now, and the landscaping makes it seem likely that the neighbor kids won't be playing right outside your bedroom window.

Will work on ForTheDream.com this weekend; I've downloaded a couple of open source blogging tools we can try out to see if they do what you want.

I have a blogger.com blog up at http://www.reluctantvegan.com and it was ridiculously easy. All you have to do is know the path for your index page (mine was a little complicated because it's a piggybacked domain, but I was able to figure it out in minutes.)

I am doing something seriously wrong if you feel you need permission to email me about anything, dear one. :-)
