What gay pride means to me...
Jun. 15th, 2005 10:17 pmPride is a funny kind of word, because it can be a good quality or a bad quality. Having a "Gay Pride" march can be seen as declaring one's self *especially* proud to be gay, as if it's something better than not being gay.
But over the past few days I realized I *know* what Gay Pride means.
It means we ain't going away. You can't shame us back into the closet. You can't make us too embarrassed to face the light of day.
It means the battle's over, and the assholes lost, and they're still fighting, but that's because they're too stupid to know they've lost, and they're think causing pain is the same thing as fighting, and they think inflicting injuries is the same thing as winning.
It happens to a lot of losers, and it's when they can be their most dangerous.
We ain't going away. We're here. We're in your face, and you have no choice but to learn to fucking *DEAL WITH IT*.
And you can deal with it hatefully and angrily and scornfully, if you want to. Or you can grow up and if you used to hate gay folks, accept you made a mistake and start dealing with it. How you deal with the mistakes you make is your own personal mark of maturity, so make sure you do it right; you're buying a good sized chunk of what it means to be a responsible adult with your choice, so make the right one.
Now, some of you reading this, you know if I'm gay, or straight, or bi.
And some of you wonder why I'm saying "we". Am I including poly folks, or consenting perverts? Or am I (duh duh *DUUUUUH*) ONE OF THEM? (cue horror-film scream)
None of your flipping business.
But if it'll negatively affect your opinion of me, you might as well assume I suck dick twice a day, three times on Sundays, and bend over and beg for it like a bitch from every guy I think looks hot. Because, you see, as long as you think less of someone, because of who that person loves, it's damn well time you think less of me... because I love who I love, and I'm not asking your permission.
We ain't going away.
Deal with it.
