(no subject)
Jan. 17th, 2002 07:50 amSo, it's been a few days since I did a live journal entry. But, see, I've been doing *IMPORTANT STUFF*. This is partially anthropological study, partially studies of society, attempts at understanding rituals of a new area, with possibilities of future gainful interactions at the...
Oh, hell, www.alt.com is this big alternative sexuality "personals" website, and there are literally hundreds of possible 'interesting friends, playmates, or relationship-possibilities'. I've been reading sexually explicit ads and (NOT) wasting my time responding (NO ITS NOT A WASTE), because, frankly, I *NEVER* quite 'get' the right tone on these things (BUT THIS TIME WILL BE DIFFERENT).
Umm. As you can tell, 'we' are in a little bit of disagreement over this, but the good news is that the thought, and the possibility has been enough to excite some good feelings (no, that is *NOT* a metaphor. Or a euphamism for that matter) in me.
The only annoying thing is that they have live chat, but they don't have message boards. I'm much better when I can write at my leisure.
And, I keep reminding myself, even if my 'profile' doesn't excite anyone, and even if I don't 'score' with anyone I'm talking to, there's a chance I'll find some of the 'inside' of the BDSM community, and once I'm inside, and able to meet people, the absolute worst thing that can happen is I start to meet people with a common interest, so there's less of that awkward first "so... what small-talk topic should we try?"
Chuckle. But when responding to profiles and trying to make contacts, it'd be a lot easier if I know more about what *TO* do, rather than just a bunch of "what not to dos". ("It doesn't matter if she says she's a sub and wants rough treatment. DO NOT open your letter with "ON YOUR KNEES, BITCH!". Do not send a carefully scripted, to the number of breaths taken, scene to someone who shares a single common interest with you. Or, even someone who shares every single interest with you. In fact, remember that the other person *MIGHT* have some ideas of their own. Do not follow up the email to that *REALLY* hot one the next day telling how you're in tears and going to kill yourself and it's all her fault for not answering you. Etc. Good rules, but nothing step-by-step for "how to do this right")
