I think I have the introduction to my book (re)done. I'm feeling accomplished.

I'm surprised there aren't more posts. What, did LiveJournal crash or something? Hah hah hah... boy that would have sucked for those of you who haven't been blowing off LJ because of a seriously intense book project you were working on.

What's that? LJ *DID* crash? Ummm... can I delete that last paragraph, or something?

Smile - I love you, too, darlin', and I wish I was in Baltimore with you, now.

Yes, it crashed in the worst sort of way, but it looks like the LJ folksen managed to piece most of it all together. It is unbelievable that a coloc site managed to blow out power to their entire server farm. I'd love to know the whole story.

It's good to read your writing is coming to completion, though be prepared for the... editor!

Best

I just saw a post that suggested the reason was someone pushing the emergency power-off button, the one to kill electricity in case of a fire.

It reminded me of the heating oil company that found that the opening to the tank was sealed, so they used tools to break the seal, then saw that it was "clogged with cement", somehow, and used a drill to break through the cement, and then started pumping oil down the opening... into the basement. Go figure, when the family moved their oil tank, they'd had the pipe filled with cement, and sealed off the opening so no one could make such a stupid mistake!

I have family insisting that this is true... even so, it's like "No... you *are* just pulling my leg, right? I mean, *really*, right?"

Always strikes me as funny when people get all freaked out about LJ going down..

Me, too, but just a little bit. I did like the "how to survive LJ going down" icon, including the "hit refresh (hundreds of times)" and later, "hit refresh (even more hundreds of times". If it had been a boring time, when I was at loose ends, it would have been a lot worse.
