Prediction:

President Bush's halting delivery, emotional twitches, and inability to deliver a clear message in response to questions is going to be called a polished delivery, on message, and otherwise brilliant.

Cynicism: People will buy it and believe that he actually had a strong presence and good delivery.

Analysis: not a knockout, but I think anyone who doesn't put Kerry ahead on points is in denial.

Actually

Actually, I'm hearing all about a Kerry win. On FoxNews. The blogs I read are all saying "draw" more or less. What are you reading that would lead you to such an innaccurate prediction -- ? That's not like you, I count on you to be perceptive and open-minded and fair and accurate despite your personal feelings.

Derbyshire:
John Kerry plus: He does not come across as arrogant and obnoxious as we believe him to be.

John Kerry minus: His positions don't hold together in any coherent way.

George W. Bush plus: He has an air of authority, experience, and purpose I don't recall from 2000.

George W. Bush minus: The President is a dismally poor public speaker.

The anal-sex-obsessed Wonkette:
Kerry managed to not contradict himself within the space of a single sentence. Bush succumbed to vapor lock a couple of times but everyone knows that just makes him seem like a normal guy. All in all, we don't know who won. We're going to wait for the media to tell us.

N.Z.Bear:
"OK, I'm not hypersensitive about such things. But these questions are turning out to be extraordinarily biased. Every question seems to be 'so, let's talk about the mistakes Bush has made...'"
====

VodkaPundit:
Bush gets a B- for content, and a C+ for delivery.
Kerry also earned B- for content, and a solid B for delivery.

This guy savages Kerry on his Iraq inconsistencies, but downgrades Bush on missed opportunities.

LOCKHART: DEBATE CONSENSUS A 'DRAW'

Unbeknownst to Kerry adviser Mike McCurry, a C-SPAN camera quietly followed McCurry as he found Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart on Spin Alley floor and asked him his impression of the debate. Lockhart candidly said to McCurry , “The consensus is it was a draw.” via Drudge... bwahaha.

Treblinka Square?!! Isn't that in Poland?? Let's see if Kerry gets away with something Bush would be endlessly mocked about. Mr. Smartypants isn't so smart after all. -- The Corner, NationalReviewOnline.

"Not a single question about Kerry's 20 years in the Senate - HIS record on foreign policy, in other words. Kerry wants to forget about them (except for all the neat foreign leaders he got to meet), but on what grounds is Lehrer ignoring them?" ibid.

And my currrent favorite:
via K-Lo, Kathryn Lopez, editor of NationalReviewOnline.com:

"Dear Kathryn,

Tonight's debate was a decisive victory for John Kerry because America saw him as our next president. He showed strength, conviction, and a steady command of the facts. He offered clear plans for Iraq and fighting terrorism.

George Bush has a record of failure to defend, and he failed to defend it. The president just gave us more of the same shallow promises.

However, the Republican spin machine is already hard at work. We need your help to beat back their distortions. Right now we need you contact the media and speak your mind.

Contact national media using the link below and remember to emphasize the points above.

(I didn't watch it live. But I did read some of the live-bloggers. It seemed to make more sense that way.)

We'll see if I'm wrong over the next few days, I imagine. You've already quoted people defending Bush's performance, and trying to find a way to condemn Kerry's. I already saw an attempt to turn Kerry's perfectly consistent set of statements into another 'change of position'.
