So, I made a suggestion to a friend that I'd be glad to use my Amazon discount to help stock some handy "grab and go" food. I'd kinda sorta hoped that they'd be able to put together a shopping list, but I realized that wasn't exactly the brightest of thoughts. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

One thing that was called out was that they weren't looking for protein bars - which, alas, is one of *my* standbys - and, alas-sub-2, my mental, emotional, and physical energy have been low. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

Jerky, or other dried/smoked meat products (e.g., Slim Jims). Individually wrapped cheese sticks. Dried fruit. Granola, especially with nuts in it. Whole grain bread sticks. Old-fashioned "Christmas" fruitcake, the kind that barely has enough cake to hold the fruits and nuts together, basted with liquor-flavored syrup, cut into "fingers", and wrapped airtight (it's very nutrient-dense). "Caramel" or "kettle" popcorn, in individual bags (or popcorn balls). Water. Electrolyte/sugar/flavor powder to add to water.

Look around online for survivalist food.

Um, no fruitcake, as this is food for on the job. The person does make AMAZING fruitcake but I wouldn’t do anything requiring full alertness afterward.

Ah. The exact needs weren't specified, so I just started dredging up all the things I knew that were portable, relatively non-perishable, needed no immediate preparation, and were nutrient-dense. The fruitcake suggestion came from an old book on camping out :-)

No longer relevant as this was related to Job From Hell keeping her from eating dinner. Thank you though.
