Well - it's pretty darn good. It gave me a few years of good service, before one of the magnetic snaps pulled free from the canvas. This isn't a serious issue, though it seriously limits my use of the bag - it removes the front "utility" pouch, which was very important for me. It looks like a clever, crafty person could fix it - but that's not me.

Still - about $50, for a few years of good service, and relatively sturdy construction, is worth it for me.

(And once my new one shows up, if anyone thinks they *are* clever and crafty enough to fix the magnetic snap on the front pouch - or just doesn't need the front pouch at all! - there'll be one available, damn cheap.)

I'm looking at the pictures on the site, and trying to figure out which pouch you mean. A photo of the damaged snap would be helpful.

(I'm not personally in the market - I picked up the Handbag of Holding when they had their "50 items 50% off" sale just before $WINTERHOLIDAY, and I love it.)

The second picture on the link - where they have the think-geek monkey sitting. There's a snap that covers that pouch. (Um. In *my* version of the bag. It looks like they wisely chose to change this to velcro in the latest version.)

I was wondering if that might be the pouch you meant. Replacement might be easier than repair, but yes, it should be fixable for the right person.

Nod. In fact - if I hadn't already ordered a replacement, I just *might* have tried to fix it myself by prying out the snap/rivet and sewing on some velcro myself (edited to add: now that I've seen the new bag - I never would have thought of that without the new design as a guide!). It would look terrible (if I did it - I'm not very skilled) but it looks like a solid repair.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm getting to the point where it's looking as if I'm going to have to carry something like that, and I appreciate knowing it's a good product.
