I'm lousy at blogging, but...
Mar. 20th, 2013 09:55 pm... I'm sure other people are interested, too.
You know that song in Horton Hatches The Egg?
It really exists. (And yes, the link to the lyrics works.)
I'm sure there are plenty of people who could have told me this. This is hardly news; this is something well known, I'm sure, and many people will say that it was silly to post this given the breadth of knowledge of this fact on the part of so many people.
If so - I have to angrily demand to know why they didn't tell *me*, hm?

Date: 2013-03-21 06:58 am (UTC)My father seemed to have an endless knowledge of songs from the 40s and even earlier, including all the nonsense songs - "Hut Sut Ralston", "Mairzy Doats", "Fwee Widdle Fishies", "Ashby De La Zouch Castle Abbey", "Bei Mir Bist Du Schön" (the Andrews Sisters' version, not the traditional Yiddish song), "K-K-K-Katy", "Yes, We Have No Bananas", "Java Jive", "Rag Mop", "Who Put The Overalls In Mrs. Murphy's Chowder?", "Come On-a My House"...
Anyway, this is why I have a headful of music going back to well before I was born, and can sing along with most of it when I hear it.

Date: 2013-04-03 07:31 pm (UTC)I shoulda told you.
Hell, I shoulda sung it to you. (My dad, like Ace's) used to sing these silly songs during the long, long car trips of my childhood...)
Just jumping in for a much-needed checkin on LJ & spotted this. Back to work...
