...but it seems that my final gift from Microsoft - a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate - is up and running on my new SATA 3 Solid State hard drive - my other birthday present to me.

I *do* miss being able to buy cheap Microsoft software... ah well.

My home PC now has a 7.3 out of a possible 7.9 on Windows Experience Index... and my disk is at 7.6, it's everything else that's at 7.3 :-).

I felt a bit silly about this. I wanted to buy myself *something* for my birthday, and a solid state Sata 3 disk was the best performance boost for my system, but it wasn't really what I *wanted*. Thankfully, I found a magical tea maker that was perfect as an additional gift.

Are you signed up at MSANet.org? You can spend $600/yr at the company store after your membership fee.

Oh - I knew about that, and completely forgot.

I'm not now, but I hope to be soon :-); thank you!

Well... there's two reasons I don't really celebrate my birthday. First, I don't really have, you know, *friends*. Local people I can invite over and just hang out. Pat came up to visit over Labor Day, and we could have "celebrated" my birthday, but it wouldn't really have been anything different... if we go to a nice restaurant, how is that different from "Oh, yeah, Pat and I just went to this restaurant for no particular reason"?

So, I don't really formally celebrate it much.

And, well, the other is that it's September 11th. I'm hoping that, before I'm 55, that doesn't matter any more.
