johnpalmerMy order from Amazon came in today... a pleasant surprise, since I'd forgotten I'd ordered anything! I'm now listing to School House Rock Rocks... I just finished listening to Saturday Morning Cartoons Greatest Hits. (That, and a converter from S-video to RCA, and I'm happy... I can watch DVDs on TV once again. Alas, my PS2 doesn't do DVDs, so I need to use one of my laptops.)
The music is interesting... some of the songs are true to the original, just bigger-name people doing the music, close to the original, and some of them are completely redone, with the tune just barely recognizable (your best chance to recognize the song is to hear the words). It made think about what it would be like to make that kind of decision. "Here, you get to record the theme song to Underdog" and you have to ponder whether you should give people the nostalgia trip of the song they remember hearing, or whether to play with it just a bit, or whether to completely change it around, keeping just the words (and maybe a hint of the melody from time to time).
