Various bits of good news...
Jun. 16th, 2002 08:02 pmWell, I haven't updated this journal in forever, and part of that has been because of low energy because of depression. But, there have also been some good things going on.
First off, exercise has been going well. I came to the not-too-stunning realization that, if one works a 12 hour shift, and takes a walk every three hours for 15 minutes at a time, one ends up getting an hour of walking in. I've been doing that almost every day I've been working. Plus, I determined that it's more comfortable to do interval training with shorter intervals. Rather than trying to jog three minutes and walk one, I've been jogging 1.5 minutes and walking for half a minute. The shorter intervals of jogging keep me from getting as tired, I think. I hope to build up to 2 minutes jogging, 30 seconds walking in the next two weeks.
Pat Kight () came up to visit, and I had a wonderful time with her. We went to the market, and I picked up some spices, and a small tea pot, and some good loose tea.
I know a lot of tea drinking friends who insist that US tea bags are nothing compared to real tea.
Now, the only problem that I had is that I don't know how much a 'cup' of tea is. You see, tea is measured 1 teaspoon (Interesting coincidence, eh?) per cup, plus one additional total. Well, how much water is that? I stopped worrying about it, and just guesstimated.
My first surprise came when I tasted it (with milk and sugar)...
I'd been told that this stuff is *REALLY* different from what you get in the US from tea bags, right? So I was a little bit surprised when it tasted like... tea.
Yes, I know, kind of funny, isn't it? But it *WAS* a lot better tasting than any tea I got out of tea bags, I do have to admit that. There was no bitter overtone to it, and it was really tasty.
Now, for sheer wakup power, I still want my cappuccino (I probably butchered the spelling of that), but for just drinking, tea is going to make a nice addition to my menu.
Well, shucks... there's more to talk about, but it's getting late (8pm, and I work 6 am to 6pm now)... I'll try to get back to this tomorrow.
