Fundraising...
Mar. 20th, 2013 07:46 pmSo, I have a friend who's getting medical treatment for an eating disorder. However, insurance is only covering too-damn-little of the treatment. (NB: I do not say this to condemn her insurance company - her description of what they'll cover sounds like about what I'd expect them to cover, given what I know of the industry. That still leaves a boatload of out-of-pocket expenses.)
So, she (and some of her friends) are trying to raise funds.
I don't have any artsy, craftsy, or, face it, *useful* skills that a large number of people might purchase.
But I have an old laptop computer, an ASUS n81VG-X1 upgraded to Windows 7. It was running all the games I wanted just fine until Diablo III - it has a dedicated video card with a gig of dedicated memory, and a dual core 2.4ghz. For more specs, you can check out this link:

I'd like to raise $250, or a bit more if you're flush with cash and think it's worth the extra money.
For shipping: I figure it'll cost about $30 to ship and insure. If you pay that, I'll donate the extra $30. If you don't, then I'll eat the shipping cost, but then I won't have the extra $30 to donate.
Or, if anyone wants to pop in and tell me that price is far too high for a laptop that's *that* old, well, I'll probably "buy" it myself and find a use for it here.
(Comments from non-friends/access list folks are screened just because I fear that this kind of post is a spam magnet. I'll monitor and unscreen any serious comments.)
