Need a domain name...
Nov. 12th, 2010 10:49 amSo... I've been getting my mail from Newsguy for a long time. The thing is, Newsguy is a Usenet provider. And it's $30 a year, just for email, and another $30 for Usenet access.
That's not a bad price - but I don't use Usenet much any more. So, I'm taking their smallest, cheapest Usenet access account, which doesn't come with e-mail, and moving my mail to a new address. And, then, I'm going to use a domain name to manage e-mail - my DNS registrar provides e-mail forwarding for free. That way, I'll have an e-mail address for as long as I want it, with just forwarding changes if I have to move to a new back-end address.
I've been holding on to my old domain name, forthedream for sentimental reasons.
Do people think that's a reasonable "businesslike" name? "Here's my card; you can e-mail me at johnpalmer at, etc.?
For a personal domain, I'm thinking of ShamanicWeirdness. I don't think that'll pass the "businesslike" test, but I still like it. (And I especially like that weird has two meanings.)
Any thoughts?
