It's far in the future.

You've just had an amazing epiphany, and realized that I played a role in world events in 2010, due to an amazing set of circumstances, wherein my own unique skills and abilities were what was most needed. You see the details of what happened, and how I made a difference, and you smile warmly.

"It doesn't surprise me," you say. "I knew John was a damn good...."

A damn good what?

Though I think I'm a competent writer, I realized this weekend that the word is not "writer". There's a difference between "he can write" and "he is a writer", and the first is a more apt description for me than the second.

There are two words which I think might finish the sentence. I'm putting them behind a cut tag (just so they don't influence your own instinctive answer). If you click through, let me know if you think one or the other (or a completely different word) is the best one.
