For a really good joke, go back to alt.callahans near the beginning of the year. I was wondering if I should trade in some stock options with a strike price of over $30 for options with a strike price set in August of this year.

(The strike price of an option is the amount that you're allowed to (usually buy) the stock for. If the price is higher than the strike price, the option is worth money, because you could buy the stock at a discount... or, borrow money to buy the shares, then immediately sell them, and pocket the difference. If the strike price is higher than the stock price, of course, they're worthless.)

I did, in fact, decide to trade them in. I hope the deal is still on... 750 options at $1 or so a share will be really nifty. Assuming Worldcom still exists, of course.

I got out jogging tonight... I did pretty good, too. It was raining, but my knee never started aching, I never got too badly out of breath, and I didn't have any of those icky back pains that are indicative of heart strain.

(How do I know about those back pains? Let's not ask too many questions, okay?)

I made a decent curried mixed vegatable (with chicken) for dinner, so it looks like I probably even had a good, healthy dinner.

Now, I hope to study and get some sleep before work tomorrow. Studying, I'm afraid, has been going slowly with the demands of housework.

Did you use the spices we found at Pike Place Market? And did I ever give you the recipe for the potato-cauliflower-eggplant curry? (Which, BTW, I just thawed and had for dinner a couple of nights ago. It freezes wonderfully.)

Bwahahaha!

Gotta love those completely uninformed magical "right decisions"!

Back in February, my employee stock purchase came due. I held for a few days (because a lot of people insta-sell, which drives the price down) and then tried to sell, at a pretty good price for Maxtor...

...only to discover that eTrade claimed that they'd never gotten my paperwork to be able to sell. And that they no longer accepted receiving the paperwork by any method other than the US Paste Orifice.

So, I filled out new paperwork and sent it in. And waited. Eventually the paperwork got processed...

It went through after the market close when the stock was at its highest in many months. I put in a "sell at open, unless it drops below x" order. It opened up a nickel higher on Monday morning, then dropped by 10%.

Gotta love it.
