I asked my mom what she'd like for a Mother's Day gift, and she'd like a new smoke bush for her yard. She lives in Ambler, PA. It's okay if it gets shipped; she's had plants shipped to her before. But if there's anything local-ish, I'd prefer that... it means there's a better chance to fix things if anything goes horribly wrong.

If she wanted a new PC, I'd have a much easier time of figuring out who's reputable :-). Does anyone know of a good way to go about ordering something like this for her?

Both the good mail-order nurseries I know are on this coast (I think . . I know heronswood is, but forestfarm might be on the other side.) They are both VERY good. There's also White Flower Farm, but they are wicked pricey. Anyway, they're all online, look 'em up.

Thank you! But it turns out I was able to find something local; the nice thing is, this meant I could get her a gift card that will likely include some leftover funds for other gardening stuff.

I would check Rhoad's Garden http://www.rhoadsgarden.com/index.html. I have no idea if they ship, but it is close enough that picking it up isn't out of the question (assuming there is no reason that she can't drive). And they might deliver, being that it is close.

one even closer to her is Holly Days nursert http://www.hollydaysnursery.com.phtemp.com/store/merchant.mvc. They have an online store so you could have delivered. I don't know much about them, though.

Thanks! One of them let me buy a gift card that will cover delivery (if she wants it delivered) so I should be set.
