Poor me...

I overbought perishable food last week at Trader Joe's, and now I have to get rid of it all quickly, because tomorrow I have a big interview, and then a train trip to visit [livejournal.com profile] kightp... I won't have much time to nosh on produce and I don't want it to sit in the refrigerator until Sunday night.

And that means having to eat huge amounts of this awful produce.

Mixed greens. Sweet onions. Carrot and red pepper, and radishes. (Okay, granted: I have far too many radishes. But I also don't mind having to throw some of *those* away.) Thank the lord for blue cheese dressing....

But alas, a large salad won't solve my woes. I also have large containers of red cherries, Ranier cherries, and fresh strawberries.

Woe, oh woe... if only there was someone to save me from this awful fate!

Woe! If I could get to you, I would save you from some of those fruits and veggies. The Mousie looovvees strawberries.

Good luck on your interview!

... and then I'll probably force you to come to the farmers' market with me on Saturday morning, too...

(Pssst: The onion, carrot, pepper and radishes? Should keep. And you could probably manage the cherries as train snacks).

HEY! I'm playing for *sympathy* here!

(Pepper's already cut and it seems cruel to cut a piece of a large carrot off and not put the rest out of its misery. Yeah, I know the radishes will keep, which is what's so cruel about radishes :-).)

Oh, right, and damn it, all those variety cherry tomatoes... yellow and orange and red. Alas, if I didn't have bacon to fry to sprinkle over top of the salad, I'd be unable to face the evening's trials.

That's right, taunt me.

(It's 103 degrees down here, and I don't have anything in the house to eat that doesn't require cooking. Besides, I'm committed to walking down to the park for the last concert of the season, because I dropped my blanket off down there before work this morning. The AC in my car died again - yeah, evidently I have a coolant leak, and by the time I can afford the repairs, the hot spell will be over. I'm a wee bit cranky.)

Well... I have to cook the *bacon*. (But then, my mini-air conditioner does blow right into the kitchen.)

Here's hoping a comfortably cool[1] and uncomfortably warm[2] night awaits you....

[1] temperature wise, of course
[2] I *hope* I don't have to explain *this* :-)

Given that I've already had uncomfortably warm (it's still 86F!), does that mean I can count on comfortably cool this weekend?
