So, I looked at my finances, and I realized something. With my tax refund, I could likely halve my debt inside of a month. I decided, as an impetus for doing so, that I would allow myself to buy (with cash, once I had it) a PS3 once I'd done so.

Then I stopped and pondered something. I have an old TV; I generally hook up with RCA cables (the yellow, red, white cables with thick-ish plugs on the end). I have no idea how a PS3 hooks up, or if my current TV could possibly work with one. I think my TV also has a coaxial connector (I guessed that you would use it to connect a cable converter box to the TV, but I stopped learning about TVs and hooking up consoles when TVs had rabbit ears, and you hooked wires to the screws that every TV had for connecting antennas).

Does anyone out there have information that would help me?

(As a side note: I also have a 22" widescreen monitor. I've been planning on buying a transcoder that will let me hook a TV cable to it. If my current TV definitely won't work, can anyone tell me if there's a good chance that a transcoder & VGA combo is likely to work okay?)

Had this in my bookmarks because I'm in the market for a PS3 as well.
