So... much though I've been nervous about talking about it, for fear of jinxing myself, it seems that I've broken through some barrier or another in my quest for fitness.
I was trying to jog 3 minutes at 6 miles an hour, and then walk 2 at 2.5, for an hour. I could do it sometimes, but it wasn't consistent. Then I had an idea. Obviously, jogging three minutes at the end of my workout is a lot harder than at the beginning, and while walking does let me "rest", it still takes effort.
So what if I tried lengthening my intervals?
Sunday, I jogged 6 minutes, and rested two, and got in five intervals. Monday, I did 5.5 miles an hour, and jogged however long I felt like it. I don't remember how I did; my first interval was 12 minutes, and that was too long, and it threw off the rest of my workout.
Today, I did six miles an hour for six minutes again, and got in almost six intervals.
I'm not getting in a full hour of working out, but I'm getting just as much jogging as I'd get in when I'd work out for an hour... I'm just getting it faster. So I guess I'll keep going, and start building up the time a bit and see where things go from here.
