New entry on LongHairedWeirdo. Warning: it's yet another anti-war statement, suggesting that starting a war is like... well, you can read the post for yourself.
A nice analogy, John, but you could be more careful with this:
"War is a terrible evil, whose only redeeming quality is that it is sometimes better than what will happen if you don't fight."
This gives far too much wiggle room for those who support wars in which they claim a "greater good." Wars should only be fought by a nation against invaders (defensive wars) or that nation's oppressors (secession wars against a central government). A war fought by a nation for imperial conquest, or even to liberate another friendly oppressed people, is still evil and wrong.
Just getting caught up with my reading, but I really liked this one. Besides your main point, it also reminded me of why I find the concept of "interventions" for otherwise autonomous adults with "drinking problems," etc. so very distasteful...
