You know, I'd forgotten all of that, what with no one really talking about it here in the states. And, I'd heard that the statement that Bush's statement was well sourced (or whatever they said about it) was a "CBA" ("cover Blair's ass") document. I should do more research into that.
In this case, though, even if we accept the official story, the information gets condemning enough. Except it won't, because of the hero syndrome.
People don't want to believe that the information they've heard heroically defending Bush's "brave" decision to invade. They don't want to believe they've been played for fools. And, damn it all, in the US, "war" is so bloody *banal*.
Someone had a livejournal entry where they said some person was saying that unlike the war in Iraq (and maybe some other political foofooraw) we can agree that the fate of Terri Schiavo is a moral issue.
I saw one butthead talking about how the Iraqi people deserved what happened to them for not overthrowing Saddam Hussein themselves.
