I'm weird...
Jul. 30th, 2004 08:10 pmOkay, you know I'm weird, right?
I mean, I'm a kinky, pagan, poly person who's got ADHD and depression, and a bunch of friends and acquaintances to beat the band... though usually only if the band consents to being beaten and has a safeword.
But today I think I might have extended my weirdness to new levels.
Since I set September 11th as the day I'm doing my dedication/initiation ritual, I've been forcing myself to get mind, body, and spirit into order beforehand.
On part of that is the study and understanding of music, a very powerful part of the human experience. I listen to music, of course, but I understand nothing about making it. So, I've been singing, listening deeper, and trying to gain more understanding.
Today, I started to work on the understanding of rhythmic underpinnings of modern folk rock.
What does that translate to?
Beatboxing to Suzanne Vega albums.
Hey, *I WARNED YOU*! :-)

Date: 2004-07-31 03:57 pm (UTC)"Beatboxing" refers to the use of the mouth as a varied percussion instrument, most often doing rap/hip hop. As I described it to a friend a long time ago, "did you ever see some guy backing a rapper who's spitting into his hands?"
I'm not sure if there's a way to arrange those two to minimize the impact, so I suppose I'll leave it like that.
