Semi-good news...
Oct. 19th, 2010 01:24 pmThe hard part about Skitty was deciding whether to take her home from the vet's on Saturday. The vet seemed pretty sure it was cancer; we don't have confirmation, but Skitty's had a hard enough life that I just don't want her to suffer more.
But since then, well... she might be sick, and very sick - she's not eating much (recently, she hasn't eaten anything) but I've been able to dribble a few teaspoons of kitten formula into her twice a day. I figure *any* food is better than none.
She's still able to play - and I even shot some video of her battling the evil water-bubble monster. (Her auto-waterer fascinates her when its first filling the dish and air bubbles come up.)
She still loves laser pointers, and I now have actual space for her to run around and chase one. But she seems to get tired pretty quickly.
She doesn't have her old agility, but she's still able to leap up into bed and sleep next to me. She doesn't risk sleeping on my hip - she can't keep her balance well enough - but she can get up on the bed, at least.
And although it makes me awfully sad sometimes, I am glad I have had at least a few more days with her.
Still no word from the vet, but she's not showing any real improvement from the antibiotic, and I think she's been getting worse. And I'm okay with this, whatever comes next. Well, not "okay" - but at peace, as best as I can be.
ETA: Lab results are in; it's malignant.
I brought her home some baby food, and we'll see if that will help her appetite any.
