Okay - when you're running Windows, you start programs, and they show up on your task bar, right?
I don't know *when* this was added. It might have been added in Vista.
But - in Windows 7, you can click on an application icon in your task bar, and move it. If you want Outlook to always be your first icon, you can just slide it to the first position, if that's what you want.
I'd have upgraded from XP just for that.
