So, it's been about four weeks since I've tried aerobic exercise, and today I decided to try it again.

I put on my newer pair of running shoes, and went jogging.

I had put some rules into place. First, I wasn't going to try to run at any pace, but I was going to try to run with good form. I wasn't going to try to run fast, in other words, but I was going to try to be running the way I'd run if I was running fast. In the past, I've tried "jogging slowly" and I think it put me into a very bad form.

Second, I was going to go for 20 minutes, jogging when I felt like it, walking when I didn't. No more.

Third, I was going to pay attention to my body as best as I could.

Fourth, I was going to try to find the balance between "I'm trying hard to get better" and "I'm trying hard not to hurt myself, or be stupid (or macho - but in this context, "macho" and "stupid" are equivalent).

I learned that I can't jog very far very fast. Oh well.

But I'm 99% sure I jogged more than 10 minutes of the 20 minutes I was out. Now that I have an actual LJ post up about it, I'll be able to track my progress to some extent, if I keep up with it.

You know, I can deal with people not listening to me. And I know, when they aren't, from long, bitter experience, it's best just to let things go.

But there are times when the urge hits to turn back into the snarky asshole who's willing to snap back, hard, when attacked online, because, after all, you're not going to get any satisfaction anyway.

It's interesting, you know? Because people are more likely to cheer a good rant that they agree with more than they are willing to cheer on a quiet, peaceful comeback that makes a point. Some folks will decry the tone of online discussions, but really, it's the snark and nastiness that gets the applause.
