I hate being sick...
Feb. 16th, 2007 06:20 pmThankfully, the work week is over. I've only lost 12 hours of pay, and unless things go really badly, I should be well by Monday.
On the plus side, I've received my new toy in the mail, an 80 gig iPod.
Wow... small... dense... shiny. I can't bear to take the plastic off of it, knowing that 30 seconds after I do so, the bright, shiny blackness will become dulled and scratched.
It's also confusing, killing my expectations of How MP3 Player Work. My old, trusty Creative Zen worked nicely; you could sync in *either* direction. Put all music on your computer to you MP3 player, and then move your MP3 player to another computer, and move it all back.
iPods don't do that.
When I tried doing it the slow way, I ended up screwing up the database, causing iTunes to lock up until I finally got the idea of wiping my iTunes directory, and starting fresh.
I've also finally cleaned up my music files. By "cleaned up", I mean they all have consistent naming and storage schemes (Artist\album\(album) - track# - (track name)), and proper tags. Oh, and all those CDs that had duplicate directories or names have finally been cleaned up leaving me with a mere 13.5 gigs of music.
To fit on an 80 gig iPod. I never really expected to fill my old 30 gig Creative MP3 player. I'm going to have to figure out how to get some video files on this thing.
I just wish I had the energy to work up some enthusiasm for this. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
