May. 17th, 2006 10:10 amI can tell that it's a day for irrational annoyances. I just got a new keyboard for use at work, and it's one of those split, ergonomic designs that Microsoft decided we should all use. Now, I've hated these things for a big reason, and it made me happily grumpy about them for a long time. They had the 'b' on the wrong side. The worst part is, I've been known to use the wrong hand (or wrong finger) for certain keystrokes, according to standard touch typing, so it made me that much more annoyed. If they were going to get something like that wrong, why couldn't they get something wrong that was good for me?
So I sat down at my new keyboard, ready to be really pissed off an annoyed at having to train myself into the habit of hitting the key with the wrong hand all the time, and that's when I found out the most annoying thing of all. Microsoft finally moved the b on their keyboard to the right side.
I know they did this intentionally. I think they knew that I wanted to be able to hate them that much more for doing this to me, and moved it just because they knew it would rob me of this chance.
