But when I find myself following a link to a purportedly Christian site, I usually hit the feedback link, and end up asking questions referring to the gospels.
For example, I might ask why they request help for themselves, and have contribution links, but they have no mention of the problems of poverty and want. They have more links, perhaps, about homosexuality, than they have about how to feed the hungry, and help those less fortunate.
I admit it's judgmental, and clearly pointed questioning, but you know, a whole bunch of Christians are being cheated of the real joy that is the basis of Christianity. Christians should not be happy because they are special, and saved, and headed for eternal happiness; they should be transformed by love. (Note that I'm suggesting that this is better than thinking one is destined for eternal happiness.)
Bad habit? Pettiness? Or some combination of those with a bit of self-righteousness?
I don't know.
I do know that, now that I'm not a Christian, I'm finding it much, much easier to get angry at soi disant Christian leaders for misleading people about the true message. When I was a Christian, you see, it was like they were lying about me, and a man ought to be able to walk away from an insult to himself. Now, now they're misleading and betraying the trust of others, of people I care about... and that makes it really easy to get angry.
