Possibly unkind humor...
May. 6th, 2005 10:32 pmI was talking about Christians earlier, and I'm frustrated about one thing.
I think a lot of modern US Christians don't have faith. I don't think they understand the message. Go out there, and just DO WHAT'S RIGHT. Don't worry about the world; go out there, and love people, and try to take care of their needs: hunger, sickness, poverty, etc.. Try to make the world a better place, and everything else will follow.
Every time I see a Christian who claims to have strong faith railing against homosexuality, worried that it's not universally condemned as immoral, I figure that person *can't* have that much faith, or can't understand the message. (I know... many of those who I'm criticizing say that *I* don't understand the message.) What, are there so few sick people, so few needy people, so few good deeds that you can do, that you have time and energy to whine about gay folks?
And I was suddenly struck by a crude comparison. You've all heard the expression "If brains were dynamite, s/he couldn't blow his/her nose"? I was suddenly struck by "If faith can move mountains, that person couldn't move..."
Sorry, I can't continue. Too childishly scatalogical. And I hope that's hint enough, because frankly, I'm feeling vaguely guilty for having the giggles over such a ridiculous statement.
