No, folks, it's not about sex. It's about love. It's about that kind of love that leads to sex, but it's love that is the focus, love that is the prime mover.

And that should tell you everything you need to know about my opinion about gay folks, gay sex, and gay marriage, and the way a liberal should view the idea.[ed: since I've been boring the socks off of people about 'love' the entire flipping book!]

Gay folks fall in love, just like straight folks. Eventually, they find partners who they love as much as a husband and wife love each other. Society should recognize that, and recognize that there are no longer "two people who live together and want to have sex from time to time", but that they are now a family.

And, for the record, I’m disgusted that the Democrats folded over this. They were afraid. They lost their faith, and so maybe it’s no wonder that they get clobbered when Christianity comes up.

Folks, I have faith. I have faith in the human spirit, and in human decency, and I have faith that love is stronger than the quiet hatred peddled by those who oppose simple justice for gay folks.

I have faith... America has been duped. They’ve been told it's all about sex, it's all about perversion, it's all disgusting and horrible.

I have faith. America is going to hear that it's about love. They’re going to hear it, and they're going to resist it for a while, but then, a few folks will force themselves to look, just to prove me wrong.

And then it'll happen, almost against their will. They'll see it. They'll see love. They'll see that twinkle in the eye, that smile, that not-quite-a-blush, they'll see it all. All those little signs that say 'love', maybe they've done them, maybe they've caused them, but they'll recognize them.

They'll see it's about love, and that's when the power will rise. That's when they'll turn to the people who are still screaming about hate, and the screaming will cut off, as the hate-mongers recognize that the rules just changed.

That's when some guy will walk over to a gay man who's in a loving, committed relationship, and say "I'm sorry. I was wrong. You deserve to be able to get married, or to do something that means the same thing." And the gay man will reach out, clap the guy on the shoulder, and say thanks.

And then the guy might stand there stunned, realizing he was just touched by "one of them", hell, I don't expect society to change overnight. I expect it'll be a long time before people really understand homosexuality, and stop freaking out over it.
