So, Friday was my last day working at Microsoft. I had planned to spend the day goofing off, really... my last day, I couldn't get involved in anything.

It was not to be... busy day. A comforting kind of thing, really. I had a moment of panic when I had to cycle a server and it might have broken the mirroring, but it didn't... it just took a long time to catch up.

It was neat, a reminder of how far I've come in the 16 months I've been working there.

Leaving was funny. I suddenly realized how big a part of my life this job had been. Like, I went to the gym that night... no worries about where my badge was, or keeping track of my pager.

I did some interval training at the gym, 6 miles an hour, for 2 minutes 45 seconds, with two minutes of rest. I stopped after 35 minutes, and went to the elliptical for another 25. After about 17 minutes, I realized that I was working, hard... and I decided to stop. I could have done more, but I realized I really didn't like continuing, so I didn't.

Maybe I got rewarded for being patient today. I went back for more interval training, and I was about to do 6 and a half minute intervals at 5.2 miles an hour. I was at 5 and a quarter the last time I tried.

It's been an interesting two days; I've been a bit lazy and indulging a bit more in celebration than is probably strictly healthy, but I figure to start back on the grind tomorrow.

I'm not sure where life's going to go next, but I think I'm ready for whatever might show up.

(I just hope the fates weren't listening to that last bit; they've been known to mock folks for saying such things.)

Congrats. Job changes like that are big deals in life. Here's hoping for bigger and better things in the future. And good work on the exercise, it's the next step for me to do the same thing.
