I just might have improved my chances of an FTE position today...
Got home from the movies, decided to just check e-mail at work for the hell of it.
Server down. I dug in, diagnosed a really tricky problem, and drove the solution... all on my day off.
There's a couple people who might be upset with me because I wouldn't join a bridge call while I was doing my diagnosis and problem solving. I think that, on Monday, I'm going to push a bit to have my boss explain the foolishness of tapping your DBA on the shoulder every ten seconds while he's finding the root cause of a major system failure :-).
