I'd love some... the worst thing is that I'm supposed to become the expert, so no one else there can help me, and I don't know of any books that will teach me how to do things. (I'm sure I can pick up any book and it'll tell me what a streaming server is, tell me how wonderful MPEG4 (part 10) is, and name some names (Real Media Server, Quicktime Streaming Server/Darwin, Microsoft Media Server, Flash Media Server)... but actual setups and examples of working setups are hard to find.
I'm hoping VLC can do encoding and broadcasting... it's free and seems - *seems* - to do what we need. But I haven't gotten it to stream to a Darwin server, and have the Darwin server reflect it.
(What we want it to do is encode the stream to a file and to a live stream. Then, folks who miss the class can watch it later, and so can distance learning students.) We hope to get it streamed to an MP4 file that can be read by a variety of readers. Right now, we're stuck with Real Player, which is annoying.)
Um... I'm babbling right now, aren't I? And I have to get ready for work. Maybe we can chat later?
